The Celebration of Economics Day Brings the Young Enthusiasts Together

The field of economics is evolving rapidly. The inculcation of the latest developments requires new approaches and strategies to understand better. Since economics is part and parcel of everyone’s life, comprehensive insight is necessary to rationalize available resources. Also, youth need to know the latest policies, interventions, and predictions in the realm of the economy. On the eve of Economics Day 2024, the Department of Economics hosted a spectacular event.

Objective of the Economic Day Celebration

Dr. Parveen Rani (Head of the Department of Economics) hosted a fest with the insightful objective of raising consciousness about the economic domain. The entire organizing crew, accompanied by the students, worked day and night to deliver a successful event. The blog delves into exciting glimpses of the event.

Major Gen. G.S. Lamba, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Sandeep Singh, Dean of Student Welfare, inaugurated the event. Dr. Parveen Rani delivered a warm welcome to the audience and underscored the purpose behind organizing the event. She informed the event is aimed at raising awareness about economics. Also to delve into the various dimensions of the field and understand the challenges.

A day full of captivating activities

Inter-University/College Contests

The eve of Economics Day brought the young economists to the same platform and created an inclusive learning environment. The event carries significant potential to attract an outside audience. There were almost 150 people who visited the event, many of whom were from Guru Kashi College, Rajindra College, Bathinda, University College Ghudda, and University College Jaito. There was an inter-university quiz competition and an advertisement competition. The participants claimed stiff competition and delivered brilliant performances.

Exhibiting the 3d Models

It’s been several weeks since the students were engaged in making the models, and the final demonstration proved to be commendable. Models that were exhibited were dealing with the blue economy, various sectors of the economy, and the evolution of the rupee. Visitors got a holistic understanding of these significant topics. The decorated walls, classrooms, and the model museum were so appealing that visitors could not stop praising it. Students presented an “Artful Antiques” shop, and people bought stone paintings there.

Interactive Games and Delicious Food Items

Games were a joyful part of the fest to keep the audience in the moment. Paper cups, sit and catch, balloon buster, and eco-matches games were held. The winners of the games also received exciting rewards. The event has so much to explore that anyone can get hungry. It also took care of the hunger of the attendees. A special food corner also involved dahi-chaat, exciting sandwiches, pani puri, and ice creams of various flavors.

The celebration of Economics Day recorded captivating moments. It showcased the Department’s allegiance to raising the students’ awareness. Visitors from outside also responded remarkably by saying they are looking forward to upcoming events.
