Rural girl’s journey – A portrait of determination and dreams turning to reality

This is the story of Paramjeet Kaur, a Rural Girl who turned her dreams into reality.
She paved her way to success with her determination and hard work.

A Glimpse of Her Life

Paramjeet Kaur hails from a small village in Fatehgarh Naubad, Bathinda, Punjab. Paramjeet Kaur is 23 years old (in 2023).
She lives with her family; her mother, who stitches clothes to support her family; her grandmother, sister, and a brother. She was unfortunate to have lost her father at a very young age.

Her supporting family

She did her early studies at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Teona Pujarian, Bathinda, on a scholarship basis. She got a 10 CGPA in 10th and passed 12th with 94% in non-medical.
She is a very brilliant and dedicated student, with a keen interest in many subjects.

Her journey at Akal University: A strong pillar of support for her

During her 11th class in school, an internship program by the DST (Department of Science and Technology) skilled her in theory and practical work. Impressed with that study system and the supportive faculty, she understood how important this university could be for her.
After her 12th class, when it was time to choose a university, she collected information about universities in the region, collected feedback from students there, and zeroed in at Akal University as the institution that would help her in more ways than one.

She enrolled for B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics. Akal university provided her with 100% scholarship, so that she could focus on her studies without worrying about her expenses..

Against all odds – Paramjeet Kaur’s Journey to Success

Her mother is a single parent, she used to run her household by stitching clothes. And running a family of three children without a father is no mean task.

Paramjeet understood the value of financial support; having been brought up by a single parent whose earnings were barely enough to run a household. She had seen the challenges and pain her mother faced in lovingly bringing up her children and educate them well too.

Inspired by her mother, Paramjeet decided to help in the house earnings by giving tuition to children, with the time she could spare after university hours. She would pay for her own transportation and other expenses.
She also wanted to study further to be able enough to support their adverse situation.

Rajat Singla, HOD of Management, motivated her to study further without worrying about money as she was a brilliant student. The Professor also motivated her to do an MBA.
So she took an exam and got selected. She took admission to MBA in Business Analytics program sponsored by Akal University.

Paramjeet Kaur’s journey has been fraught with many challenges, but she never wavered in her dedication to education. She acknowledges the support she got from the faculty and by Akal University, which even provided her with a laptop for 2 years when she needed it the most.

Currently, Paramjeet is gaining valuable experience from her Data Analyst job in one of Dubai’s company, H.K. Enterprises.

A Special Message from Paramjeet

Complimenting the excellent staff of the university, she said that the university’s team is very supportive and coordinated. Moreover, she said that students must focus on their studies after 12th, knowing that hard work at this stage will brighten their future.

Paramjeet’s ultimate goal is to pay it forward and help those financially disadvantaged students who want to study but aren’t able to learn because of many circumstances. She wants to support those students who could be more economically strong to achieve all the success they deserve.

In a nutshell

Paramjeet Kaur is an inspiration for those who struggle with their life and they give up, but Paramjeet never gives up. She always goes ahead with a positive attitude and with the blessings and support of Akal University. She achieved all her successes by overcoming all her difficulties. She proved that if you have a thirst to do something, opportunities will automatically come to you.
