Nov 23 TMTW – A month full of captivating experiences !

Akal Campus registered dynamic experiences and beautiful memories in November. The time went by fast with vibrant events, community welfare programs, workshops, competitions, etc. Here’s a look back at glimpses of the major highlights of November Month.

Blood Donation Camp

With benevolent intentions and collaborative efforts, the Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, a Blood Donation Camp was hosted on the medical premises of the university. 

The air was fraught with exceptional enthusiasm as the students beelined for the welfare projects. All the arrangements were made by the management team for  hospitality of medical staff and interventions regarding the diet of all the donors. 

Physiotherapy Camp

The Department of Physiotherapy with NSS Unit-4 conducted a camp in Akal Academy Bangi Nihal Singh Wala, Bathinda, Punjab. Dr. Navjot Kaur, physiotherapist, presided over, and joined the camp with her physiotherapy students. The Department of Physiotherapy offers an outpatient approach where concerned individuals can come and get their diagnosis and treatment done. With an altruistic objective, 45 patients were treated. Most of them were suffering from lower back pain and cervical issues.

The initiative taken by Akal University was highly appreciated by the concerned authorities as well as villagers.

Gurpurab Celebration

On the revered occasion of the 554th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a series of events, such as prayers, hymns, kirtan, langar, etc., were organized.

At the event, people of different communities gathered together and celebrated the pious teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Universal teachings of Guru Nanak, such as equality, communal harmony, and public service are a blessing for every person, community and society.
It was a grand event; the students and staff members worked together cordially to make this program successful.

Pendu Khed Mela and and Lok Kalava

‘Pendu Khed Mela’,  by its very meaning implies a Traditional Sports Meet. This month, The  Pendu Khed Mela, organised by the Akal University, was an exciting and action filled event. This was not just a show of talent and sportsmanship, it aimed to inculcate the feeling of belonging to the traditional culture and roots.

This Mela was adjoined with the Lok Kalava, or Traditional or Folk Arts meet, where the students also displayed their amazing skills and talents

Celebration of Education Day 

During Education Day, the Department of Social Sciences hosted an Inter-Departmental Quiz Competition and Model Exhibition. Event coordinators Dr. Javed Ahmed and Mr. Harjeet Singh conducted it offline. The object of the competition was to raise the students’ consciousness regarding national and international scenarios.

Poem Recitation Competition

The Department of Punjabi marked a Poem Recitation Competition on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and it was dedicated to the life, personality, and teachings of Guru Ji. The Punjabi Sahit and Sahit Sirjanhari Club organized it. 21 students from various departments took part in it. 

Model Making Exhibition 

Promoting scientific temper in its students is a fundamental duty of academia, and committed to that idea, the Physics Association of the Department of Physics organizes various events regularly. Recently, a model-making competition was hosted in which 22 teams actively participated. Dr. Amandeep Sharma and Mr.  Jagtar Singh coordinated the event.

Alumni Interaction: Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted Alumni Interaction under the direction of Dr. Upinder Kaur (Department Head). The resource person was Mr. Jagveer Singh, of the Class of 2020 had joined as a Data Analyst at BJS Distribution & Storage & Couriers Pvt Ltd). Mr. Singh delivered his opinions on “How to Crack the Interview: Tips, Aptitude Importance, and Latest Tech Trends.”

Literary Webinar by the Department of English Studies

The Department of English Studies is rigorously working to keep students’ literary and artistic stimulation active and alive. This approach leads the department to organize frequent events, webinars, workshops, conferences, and literary fests.
The latest webinar was based on “Current Trends in Language Sciences and Career Options.”
The webinar was presided over by distinguished Linguist Dr. Amitabh Vikram Dwivedi from Mata Vaishno Devi University.

Declamation Competition dedicated to Life and Sacrifices of Moti Ram Mehra

Moti Ram Mehra was a Hindu disciple of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He demonstrated his devotion when situations were highly adverse. The Shri Guru Granth Sahib Studies department commemorated a declamation competition on the Life and Sacrifices of Moti Ram Mehra. The event was graced with a preacher of the Punjabi Language from Karnataka, Mr. Dhanweshwar Rao. Almost 35 students took part in this program.
The event marked a huge success under the headship of Dr. Tarsem Singh Ji. All the participants were given 100 rupees for their participation, and winners were awarded a good amount of monetary incentive.

The glimpses of November indicate the spirit and zeal of the university towards community welfare, celebrating rich cultural elements and fostering scientific and competitive temper among the students. This kind of holistic education boots up the ethos of the students and cultivates their academic pursuits.
