More activities for the betterment of Society by the NSS

The campus’ NSS Unit operates numerous programs to deliver its humanitarian services. It organised many events to work for society through awareness campaigns, environmental protection activities, sanitation drives, health-related camps, etc.

Declamation competition under Yuva Samvad India@2047

To voice the opinions of youth and enhance their oratory skills, the NSS Unit conducted a declamation competition to raise the voices of youth under ‘YUVA-SAMVAD.’

‘YUVA SAMVAD’ has been introduced to inform the child about the Panch Pran of Amritkal. It was organized on the theme “India’s Panch Pran – a Youth Dialogue/Bharat Ke Panch Pran – Ek Yuva Paricharcha.

Akal University’s NSS Unit ranked the Youth Declamation/ Yuva Paricharcha to strengthen the spirit of Nationalism and Patriotism in them.

What is the Panch Pran of Amritkal

On the eve of Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India introduced Panch Pran of Amritkal/ Five Fundamentals of Independence.
Following are Panch Pran :

  • The goal of developing India
  • Elimination of trace of colonial mindset
  • Honor and Pride in our roots
  • Development of Unity
  • Development of a sense of duty among citizens

Mega Cleanliness Drive under Swachhta Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign

The university’s NSS Unit initiated the Mega Cleanliness Drive as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign. Swachhta Hi Seva is celebrated from September 15 to October 2 under the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Akal University’s Mega Cleanliness Drive showcased its commitment to the Swachhata campaign under the ‘Garbage Free India’ theme.

On September 29, the village Kot Shamir, Bathinda, reaped the benefits of a cleanliness drive. With the purposeful support of local authorities and residents, the campaign was concluded successfully.
Eagerly participated by about 400 NSS volunteers, the campaign was also attended by dignitaries to boost up the students’ enthusiasm. The village was divided into five zones; from the Panchayat Ghar to the Bus Stand Gurudwara, etc.

NSS Foundation Day

On NSS Foundation Day, our NSS Unit took the initiative to host a Fitness Awareness Programme and Poster Making Competition, fostering a commitment to health and well-being within our school community. Dr. Parminder Singh, the esteemed Head of Unit 4, inaugurated the event, setting the tone for an engaging and informative day.

The festivities kicked off with a burst of creativity as students from across the school participated in a Poster Making Competition. The theme, centered around health awareness, early diagnosis, and the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle, sparked imaginative and visually stunning creations. A total of 25 teams enthusiastically registered, each aiming to convey powerful messages through their artistic expressions.

Herbal Life

The Artstic endeavors were followed by an enlightening session with an expert talk by the Herbal Life team. Their insights and knowledge added depth to the understanding of maintaining a balanced and healthy life, emphasizing the importance of nutrition and well-being.

Medical Checkup Camp

The final event of the day was the much-anticipated Free Medical Checkup Camp. With a commitment to community health, over 300 individuals took advantage of the opportunity to prioritize their well-being. The camp offered a range of medical checkups, contributing to early detection and prevention of health issues.

The accomplishment of these events is evident that NSS Volunteers have realized their civic responsibility. With the discharge of effective services, they are outstandingly making a harmonious and inclusive society.
