Since the inception of Akal University’s Red Ribbon Club in 2016 it has been raising hopes for millions of people as it is running various awareness campaigns, saving lives by donating blood, and approaching the construction of a healthier society. Red Ribbon Club is an initiative of the Government of India through which educational institutes promote voluntary blood donation among youth and raise awareness against HIV/AIDS.
The Directorate of Youth Services Bathinda provides grants and funds to organize Red Ribbon club activities. Assistant Professor Dr. Navjot Kaur (Physiotherapist), coordinator, Red Ribbon Club Committee along with the diligent support of other four members of the committee, RRC hosts a variety of activities on the premises of the Campus and approaches different villages and local communities.
Strategies and Activities of Red Ribbon Club

- Organization of various blood donation camps in association with Civil Hospital Bathinda.
- Organizing various village awareness camps, webinars, and guest lectures against the prevention of HIV/AIDS and Cancer.
- Hosting seminars on drug awareness, Alzheimer’s disease, and interactive talks on PCOS and PCOD.
- Planning outreach events to the local communities through medical check-up camps, physiotherapy camps, first aid workshops, workshops on dealing with mental disorders, etc.
- Observing various significant days such as Cancer Awareness Day, World HIV/AIDS Day, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, and National and International Youth Day.
The Red Ribbon Club is proactively working towards the welfare of humanity. It promotes healthy discussions on stigmatized issues to reduce discrimination. RRC fosters the capacity building of the youth, and community participation in spreading awareness. Our university is enthusiastically participating in the race to make this world a better place to live in.
