adminArticle 51A(h) of the Indian Constitution states the promotion of scientific temper, humanism, and the spirit of inquiry and reform as part of Fundamental duties. The university is running various programs to enhance the zeal for science among its stakeholders. Several faculty members are working hard to contribute to the entire scientific community. Recently, Akal University hosted a Science Fair 2024, intending to encourage the spirit of exploration, raising queries, discussion, and rationalizing thoughts among young individuals.
Organizing Crew of Science Fair 2024
The Science Fair 2024 was initiated by the Department of Chemistry, Akal University, with the support of the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) as State Nodal Agency, National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology (DST) Government of India, and Indian Science Congress Association (Patiala Chapter). Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Head of the Chemistry Department, coordinated the event.
Celebrating National Science Day with Distinguished Personalities
The event was organized with the theme “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat ”to celebrate National Science Day. The event was enriched by the esteemed presence of Prof. I.J.S. Bansal, Founder President, Indian Science Congress Association, Patiala Chapter; Prof. Tarlok Singh, President, Punjab Academy of Sciences; Prof. N.R. Dhamiwal, Secretary, Punjab Academy of Sciences. A total of 120 students visited the fair from Yadavindra College of Engineering, Punjabi University Guru Kashi Campus, Talwandi Sabo, and Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib.
Demonstrating the Artistic Talent
The event comprises various subsequent events such as poster-making competitions, Model-making contests, science and technology quizzes, essay writing, treasure photography, etc. Students exhibited enthralling demonstrations of their creativity and talent. The event also showcased the clarity of the concept they possess with their hands-on experiences. To cheer winners for their brilliant performance, they were honored with beautiful shields, and all participants received certificates of participation from the eminent guest of honor.
The event concluded with the remarks of Major General GS Lamba, Dean of Academic Affairs, while discussing the remarkable outcomes of the Science Fair. The department also promises to conduct similar exciting events shortly also.
Today’s world imperatively demands a scientific approach in everything, even dealing with day-to-day ventures. The role of Higher Education Institutes has become explicitly important. Akal University hosts a series of activities that foster scientific inquiry among youth. An organization such as a Science Fair attracts people from amidst Punjab, and such initiatives are helpful in building connectivity with science. This approach will aid the construction of an informed and rational society and make this world a better place to live in.
