Establishment of Dr. Manmohan Singh Chair in Economics
Akal University has established “Dr. Manmohan Singh Chair in Development Economics” as an honorary tribute to the most revered economist and former Prime Minister of India. This initiative signifies our university’s allegiance towards fostering the development of research and innovation. Dr. Manmohan Chair in Development Economics will focus on conducting cutting-edge research and organizing workshops and conferences.
Expert Sessions By Dr. Gurpreet Dhillion
Akal University took a remarkable initiative to host two-day expert sessions on the research realm. The sessions will be presided over by the visionary founder of Akal Business School, Dr. Gurpreet Singh Dhillion. Dr. Dhillion is the G. Brint Ryan Endowed Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. This was a great chance for aspiring researchers and academicians to enhance their research skills. He conducted two insightful sessions entitled ” Charting Your Academic Future Defining a Personal Research Agenda” and “The Art and Science of Crafting a Stellar Research Paper: From Idea to Publication.
Celebrating Birth Anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji
Our university enthusiastically celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Under the esteemed guidance of honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Gurmail Singh, a grand event was hosted in which Head Granthi Sardar Jagtar Singh from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib especially arrived. This pious occasion featured Kavishri, Sakhi Proclamation, Gurbani Katha, etc. University premises were filled with devotion and peace.
Akal University’s Collaboration with IAS Baba
Akal University’s Centre for Competitive Examination (CCE) has taken a remarkable initiative to facilitate the UPSC aspirants with a significant association with the renowned coaching institute, IAS Baba. This collaboration intends to take the UPSC program to new heights with the equipment of the student’s advanced coaching environment, experienced supervision, etc. This collaboration marks the start of a promising path for the UPSC Super 30 Batch, reflecting Akal University and IAS Baba’s shared commitment to developing future policymakers.
Celebrating the Academic Excellence
Our Department of Education proudly announced the incredible achievements of their students. Ms. Sukhdeep Kaur and Ms. Manpreet Kaur recently excelled in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) in December 2024. CTET is a national examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). We extend our deepest congratulations to the students and competent faculty members for their spectacular success.
Celebrating National Youth Day
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the Red Ribbon Club hosted a poster-making competition. More than 100 students actively participated in the event. Participants demonstrated their utmost creativity with inspiring slogans and impressive sketches of Swami Vivekananda. The Department of Education also commemorated National Youth Day. The event was coordinated by the Head of the Department, Dr. Rashim Wadhwa, and Dr. Muhammad Arif.
Awareness Campaign at Village Tiloke Wala
Akal University’s Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with DSW Office hosted an awareness campaign at village Tiloke Wala. Students crafted slogans addressing critical social issues such as drug addiction awareness, HIV/AIDS prevention, voter rights, environment conservation, and democracy. The event was led by Dr. Navjot Kaur, coordinator of Red Ribbon Club, and supported by the Director of Youth Affairs and Assistant Director of Youth Affairs.
Youth Parliament
Centre for Competitive Examination (CCE) in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences, and the Office of the Dean-Students Welfare organized Youth Parliament. The event began with a cordial welcome by Ms. Deedarpreet Kaur. Registrar Dr. Swaran Singh addressed the audience and encouraged them to understand the essence of Indian Democracy which is the largest democracy in the world. Students performed exceptionally well in the event and successfully raised the awareness of the audience regarding the functioning of the actual parliament, making them aware of critical issues such as cyber security and waste management.
Drug De-addiction Awareness Program
Akal University’s National Service Scheme (NSS) hosted a Drug De-addiction Awareness Program. It was chaired by Mr. Jagdeep Singh, a Special Educator at Akal Drug De-addiction Centre. The event was titled ‘Awareness Campaign Against Substance Abuse’ and hosted under a CSR Initiative of CitiusTech Healthcare Technology Pvt. Ltd. It was an insightful session that empowered volunteers to take proactive measures to create a drug-free society.
Physiotherapy Camp at Village Tiloke Wala
Department of Physiotherapy at Akal University, organized a Physiotherapy camp at Gurudwara Nirmalsar Sahib in Village Tiloke Wala, Sirsa, Haryana to mark the 30th death anniversary of Baba Mohan Singh Ji. The event registered the participation of more than 4000 people and more than 60 participants received treatment for common musculoskeletal issues such as knee, shoulder, elbow pain, muscle spasms, and other discomforts. Dr. Navjot Kaur and Dr. Kritika coordinated and offered therapeutic interventions such as pain management, joint mobilization, etc.
The beginning of the year demonstrated the commitment of Akal University towards social responsibility, intellectual development, and for the upliftment of the community. With a robust start, we are determined to achieve milestones in the upcoming months.
