December 2024 – Month of Growth and Inspiration

As we approached the end of the year, December was filled with unforgettable memories and enriched experiences. The end of the year featured remarkable happenings, including interaction with the IIT Professor, the Inauguration of Turing Truncheons, an expert session for young aspirants, awareness campaigns, etc. This blog delves into the glimpses of the event.

Poster-Making Competition on World AIDS Day

Akal University’s Red Ribbon Club (RRC), in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences and Department of Multidisciplinary Studies, organized a poster-making competition on World AIDS Day. The event was held to raise awareness regarding the deadly HIV/AIDS. It featured an oath-taking ceremony with the enthusiastic participation of 50 individuals.

The key focus areas of the event included combating stigma, promoting safe practices, encouraging voluntary HIV testing, and helping people who are suffering from the disease.

Alumni Interaction

The Department of Commerce has organized alumni interaction sessions for current students. Our former student headed it, Ms. Rasleen Kaur, who is pursuing her Ph.D. at Florida State University, United States.

She shared her incredible experiences, challenges, and achievements and inspired the students to stay motivated toward their goals. She guided the students on how to approach a good university along with a substantial amount of scholarship.

Inauguration of Turing Truncheons

Our Department of Computer Science and Engineering has launched an exciting venture under the theme of Turing Truncheons. This initiative promotes innovation, creativity, and leadership among the students. The event began with the official launch of the Turning Truncheons Clubs Brochure and academic calendar. The major highlight of the inauguration ceremony was the Leaders Quiz. The seven clubs were introduced during the inaugural: Webcrafters, Ink & Pixels, Virtual Vortex, Future Lens, CodeForge, Hacksafe, and DataNinjas. The introduction of Turing Truncheons is set to provide students with the tools and opportunities to grow holistically.

Expert Session by Centre for Competitive Examination

Akal University’s Centre for Competitive Examination (CCE) has hosted an expert talk chaired by Mr. Burhan Zaman IDAS. This event is part of the UPSC Expert Lecture Series, which provides expert guidance to students preparing for the civil services.

Mr. Burhan discussed the significance of stress management, determination, and perseverance. He shared his success mantra: “Stick to the basics, Follow the process, and you shall get results.”

Prof. Shalabh’s Session on Research Project Preparation

Our university’s Research and Development Cell (RDC) hosted an insightful interaction with Prof. Shalabh, Dean of Academic Affairs at IIT Kanpur. Professor Shalabh is a renowned Statistician who has spearheaded several significant projects associated with governmental bodies such as the Ministry of Defense, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievance, etc. In his two-day workshop, he enlightened the audience on writing research proposals and discussed the importance of research projects for individual and institutional growth.

December captured the essence of progress, inspiration, and impactful learning experiences. All the events registered overwhelming participation from the people involved. We welcome the new year with hope and immense possibilities for achieving milestones.
