Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, has taken a remarkable leap toward strengthening research, innovation, and experimental learning with the inauguration of two highly advanced laboratories in the Department of Physics. The newly launched facilities mark a major step in nurturing scientific temperament and building a culture of research excellence among students and faculty.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Revered Dr. Davinder Singh Ji, Chancellor of Akal University, along with Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Gurmail Singh, Prof. Swaran Singh Registrar, Major General Dr. GS Lamba Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Sukhjeet Singh Director IQAC, Prof. P K Joshi, and respected faculty members.
Advanced Nanomaterials and Energy Applications Laboratory
The Advanced Nanomaterials and Energy Applications Laboratory has been developed to support high quality research in emerging technological domains. The lab provides modern facilities that allow researchers to explore innovative solutions in material science and device development.

Key research areas supported in the lab include functional nanomaterials, energy harvesting and storage systems, and thin film fabrication for advanced applications. With this infrastructure, students can move beyond theory and engage in practical experimentation aligned with global scientific standards.
Experiential Learning through the Nuclear Physics Laboratory
To enhance practical exposure in nuclear science, Akal University has also established a modern Experimental Nuclear Physics Laboratory. The facility is designed to give students hands on training in radiation detection techniques and nuclear measurements using contemporary instruments.
Major equipment installed includes the Geiger Müller Counter and the Scintillation Spectrometer. These tools will significantly improve laboratory based learning, strengthen analytical skills, and open new pathways for research in nuclear instrumentation.
Strengthening the Vision of Research Excellence
The establishment of these laboratories reflects the university’s continuous commitment to delivering world class academic and research facilities. By investing in advanced infrastructure, Akal University aims to prepare future scientists who can contribute meaningfully to national and global development.

This vision is already visible in the university’s recent accomplishments. Ms Pinky, a research scholar, earned the prestigious DST INSPIRE PhD Fellowship supported by the Government of India. Adding to the pride, Dr. Shailendra Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, published his research in the internationally reputed journal Energy, which carries a high impact factor.
An Ideal Destination for Aspiring Scientists
For students who dream of building a career in science, innovation, and technology, Akal University provides the right blend of mentorship, infrastructure, and research opportunities. The newly inaugurated laboratories will empower learners with real world exposure and practical competence essential for success in competitive research environments.
