Akal University proactively plays a transformative role in building a sustainable world and fosters sustainable practices. The recently concluded International Conference on Recent Advances on Green Catalysis and Drug Discovery is also a product of this foresighted aim. ICRAGCDD-24 has been hosted by the Green Chemistry Centre Chapter Akal University in collaboration with the Green Chemistry Network Centre, DU, Indian Chemical Society (Kolkata), Eternal University, Baru Sahib (Himachal Pradesh), SERB (New Delhi), CSIR (New Delhi), De Gruyter publisher (Germany), Bentham Science (UAE).
The setting of the International Conference on Recent Advances on Green Catalysis and Drug Discovery (ICRAGCDD) was the premises of Akal University from 4-6 September 2024. The event was convened by Dr. Bubun Banerjee (Faculty Advisor, Green Chemistry Network Chapter, AU)
Exploring the Networking Opportunities
This International Conference was validated as the most appropriate platform where academicians, scientists, researchers, and scholars gathered to exchange their thoughts on sustainability. A total of 342 participants were registered for this conference. Among them, 98 faculties from various reputed institutions delivered invited lectures on diverse topics and explained varied aspects of Green Chemistry. Selected full papers submitted by the registered participants will be published in a special issue of the Current Green Chemistry Journal indexed in Scopus and ESCI and published by Bentham Science Publisher.
The Conference Souvenir of 458 pages was also released during the inauguration ceremony of the conference. ICRAGCDD-2024 was funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Drillbet, Fuel Oil Water Emulsion (FOWE), Aurigene Oncology Pvt. Ltd, Anton Paar and Balani Group.
Keynote Speakers
The conference features distinguished personalities in the realm of green chemistry. These keynote speakers significantly influence this through their incredible contributions. The following are notable speakers at this Conference:
● Professor Bimal Krishna Banik, a Professor at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University presented “Anticancer drug candidates derived from polyaromatic compounds”.
● Professor (Dr.) Ganapati D Yadav presented his paper entitled “Aiming Beyond the Net Zero Goal: Pioneering Sustainability through Green Hydrogen, CO2 Refineries, Biomass Valorization, and Waste Plastic Recycling”.
● Professor Brindaban Chandra Ranu presented “Eco-acceptability step-time-and cost economy constitute the vital parameters of Green Synthesis”.
Oral Presentations and Poster Presentations
The conference provided a great opportunity for these individuals to demonstrate their significant research findings with the participants. Researchers presented their research via oral presentations and poster presentations and received their invaluable feedback. 26 Eminent faculties evaluated the various oral and poster presentations from each category and selected the Best Three Presenters and they received prizes sponsored by De Gruyter Publisher, Germany.
An organization such impactful events in institutes of higher education carries the unlimited potential to raise the consciousness of people. ICRAGCDD-2024 demonstrated that intellectual gatherings are certainly very helpful in producing positive outcomes. Emphasizing the use of nonhazardous chemicals and building a greener future is a dire need of time. Akal University is playing a remarkable role in constructing a sustainable future.
Our Green Chemistry Chapter looks forward to organizing more such events, workshops, and insightful discussions. You can also become part of it by joining us on our social media platforms. We are waiting for your arrival!
