Exploring the Exciting Experiences in August – TMTW

August features numerous exciting events, including the organization of training sessions, informative seminars, and celebrations of various days of national importance. All the events were accomplished with the exceptional participation of the attendees. Let us have a look at the glimpses of this month.

NSS Fire Safety and Fire Fighting Training Event

Akal University’s vibrant NSS Cell hosted a Fire Safety and Fire Fighting Training Session in collaboration with NCC. Mr. Kuldeep Singh, FSO, Punjab Fire and Emergency Services, Talwandi Sabo, presided over the event. Mr. Singh emphasized how appropriate deployment of safety measures can help minimize any disaster’s effects. The major highlights of the event were an introduction to fire safety, types of fire and extinguishers, evacuation procedures, firefighting techniques, and emergency response.

International Webinar on Nuclear Physics

The Department of Physics organized an international webinar entitled “What You See is What You Get: Compton Scattering Explores Nuclear Forces” as part of the Research Webinar Series. The webinar was chaired by Professor Harald W. Griesshamer, George Washington University, Washington, DC, USA. The webinar attracted more than 300 entries across the globe. Participants from prestigious institutions in India (IITs and IISER) and countries like the UK, Canada, Japan, Nigeria, Romania, and Italy joined the webinar to expand their understanding of the realm of nuclear physics.

NCC Entrance Examination

Our university is successfully running two different wings of the NCC, namely the Army and Navy. Every year to evaluate the dedication and caliber of interested candidates, an entrance test is organized. Under the guidance of Major General GS Lamba, an entrance examination has been held. Selecting these young cadets through comprehensive criteria will help maintain consistency throughout the course. To assist this selection process, a team of officers from Bathinda, joined our campus.

Celebrating International Youth Day

Acknowledging that youth can play a transformative role in shaping sustainable growth dynamics, our Department of Education organized an event commemorating International Youth Day. Poster-making and slogan-writing competitions were hosted. The theme for the event was “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”

Celebrating Independence Day

Akal University celebrated its 78th independence on its premises with great enthusiasm. Students and faculty members from various departments were present at the event. The flag-hoisting ceremony was carried out by Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Gurmail Singh. Later, he addressed the participants and enlightened them students about the evolving dynamics of India’s political, economic, social, and religious fields. The event was concluded with the Thanksgiving speech of Major General Dr. GS Lamba.

MBA Orientation

Akal Business School (ABS) recently held a three-day orientation program for newcomers. The event was graced with the presence of Gurpreet Singh Dhillion, founder of Akal Business School. Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Gurmail Singh shared invaluable experiences with the students. Students from Akal University and Eternal University participated in the event. The orientation program features interactive sessions with corporate leaders, industry experts, etc.

Informative Seminar by Akal Incubation Cell

The Akal Incubation Cell, headed by Major General GS Lamba, Dean of Academic Affairs, was established to support innovation and creativity among students. Dr. Basharul Islam, Assistant Professor at Akal Business School, organized a seminar on incubation for students of commerce, management, and computer science and engineering. The major objective of the event was to introduce the students to the role of incubation centers in promoting entrepreneurship with the support of mentoring, development of ideas, execution, resource availability, and networking opportunities. To nurture entrepreneurial skills and innovation among young enthusiasts, Akal University empowers them with informative seminars, expert interactions, and workshops.

 

Celebrating Women’s Equality Day

On the occasion of Women’s Equality Day, the Department of Education took the initiative of organizing a Slogan writing competition. Observance of such significant days marks the university’s commitment to inclusivity and equality. The theme for International Women’s Equality Day was “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress, Equality in All Spheres of Life, Mending Wage Gaps, Upliftment, and Empowerment of Women.” Students collectively supported the idea of empowerment of women in the growth and development of society.
The Department of English Studies commemorated Women’s Equality Day with active participation in a debate competition.

 

Organization of Akhand Path

To seek the blessings of the almighty, our department of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Studies (SGGS) organized Akhand Path. All the members of the university community participated in the event with great devotion and interest. Gurmat Smagam was organized to commemorate the beginning of the new academic session 2024-25. Akal University provides a holistic environment to students where they can grow spiritually as well as academically.
