Glimpses of May – TMTW Celebrating Excellence, Innovation at Akal Campus

Akal University consistently meets the expectations of its students. This month of May again offered them a comprehensive learning experience with a blend of innovation, spiritual engagement, and academic excellence. Let us have a look at glimpses of the month:

Launching Innovative Products by Akal Incubation Cell

Akal Incubation Cell hosted an expert session on “Chartered Accountancy: Gateway to Diverse and Impactful Career”. CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of the esteemed ICAI, delivered a futuristic lecture about the ever-changing world of chartered accounting, the true highlight of the event was the formal launch of students’ products, Snagsakhi and Khaoware.

Snagsakhi is a therapeutic plushie designed to provide comfort to women during menstruation. It overcomes the shortcomings of traditional therapies by providing an all-in-one solution by combining heat and vibration in a travel-friendly, rechargeable form.

The second product, Khaoware, offers a revolutionary form of edible cutlery that is tastier, stronger, eco-friendly, and more affordable than existing options. It is developed in eight flavors and combines functionality with sustainability.

Gurmat Smagam

With the objective of wishing the best to the students who are appearing in their semester-end examination and welcoming the new session, Gurmat Smagam was hosted. Everybody felt deeply devoted during Akhand Path Sahib and mesmerizing Kirtan. Akal University very often organized such revered programs for the welfare and growth of the entire university community.

Celebrating Student’s Success Stories

• Ms. Karamjeet Kaur, one of our bright minds in the Department of Physics, has been chosen for the prestigious Doctoral Training Programme at the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (ECT), Italy. This program offers high-level training and research opportunities to the learners. It will take place between 15th June and 4th July 2025, and Karamjeet has gained a grant amounting to around 3 lakh to fund her travel, staying costs, as well as living expenses.

• We are immensely proud to share that Ms. Avneet Kaur, a brilliant student from the Department of Physics, at Akal University, has been selected as a Data Scientist in Germany. Avneet will be joining Freudenberg & Co. KG in Weinheim as a Junior Project Assistant, where she will work on advanced data-driven projects involving machine learning, scientific simulations, and computational modeling — a true testament to the strength of a Physics background in today’s data-driven world. Avneet hails from a humble background where her father works in the government sector. While growing up she learned working hard, values of discipline, and integrity from her father.

Revisiting the Past Memories – Alumni Meet

Visiting your alma mater after a long time is full of excitement and strange feelings. Students were overwhelmed with the mixed emotions of happiness and void at the same time. Students from various batches had joined the Akal campus and it was an incredible union of past and present. These alumni members shared their experiences with the participants.

Convocation Ceremony 2025

Students received their hard-earned degrees in the esteemed presence of Dr. Baba Davinder Singh Ji. The Chief Guest, Dr. Charan Singh, CEO and Founder Director of EGROW Foundation and Former Non-Executive Chairman of Punjab and Sind Bank, spoke with great impact during the keynote address. 287 graduates, comprising scholars from Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate streams, received degrees – a moment of proud accomplishment on their learning path. The air was filled with applause and optimism for a better future as they walked forward to collect their degrees.

At Akal University, May was a vibrant month filled with creativity, celebration, and devotion. Every event highlighted the university’s commitment to holistic development, from reuniting with alumni and exhibiting innovative student-developed products to celebrating academic accomplishments at the Convocation and strengthening spirituality through the Gurmat Smagam. We look forward to more such events so that students get a chance to grow holistically.
