TMTW March Chronicles – Vibrant Glimpses of the Month

March brought with it the promise of fresh starts, developing brains, and endless enthusiasm. Our campus became a vibrant hub of thought, activity, and learning. Here is a comprehensive summary of an exciting March that sparked ideas, strengthened interpersonal connections, and underlined our shared pursuit of excellence.

Seven-day NSS Camp

The NSS Unit of Akal University organized a seven-day NSS Special Camp, themed “Youth for Sustainable Development: Good Health and Well Being”. The main objective of the camp was to empower youth to promote health and wellness. It was featured with expert talks and interactive sessions. Dr. Dheeraj Jindal and Dr. Navpreet Singh, Ayurvedic medical officers enlightened the students with their expertise in the field. Dr. Divya Gupta Jindal, a Gynecologist discussed the problems of adulthood, also solutions to tackle them. Mr. Naresh Pathania, a first aid trainer from Red Cross Bhawan, Bathinda guided the students about first aid.

Math Mela 3.0

Math Mela 3.0 was a lively event designed to make math entertaining, engaging, and participatory. The event, which was held in a vibrant carnival setting, featured puzzle stations, games of logic, and escape rooms with a math theme. Interactive displays demonstrated the aesthetic value of symmetry, the geometry of the natural world, and the practical applications of mathematics.

Physiotherapy Camp

The Department of Physiotherapy took another initiative to serve humanity. Under the esteemed guidance, Dr. Navjot Kaur (PT) hosted a Physiotherapy Camp at Gurudwara Sahib, Village Phaggu, Sirsa. A total of 60 individuals received treatment for musculoskeletal issues such as knee, shoulder, and elbow pain, and muscle spasms.

Speech Competition on Women in Politics

Our Department of Social Science in association with Multidisciplinary Studies organized a speech competition on “Women in Politics: Breaking Barriers”. It was planned for International Women’s Day. Students raised sensations among the audience with their powerful words. The event concluded with a strong message to the participants about how women can bring revolutionary changes if they are given an ideal platform to grow.

 

Celebrating National Science Day

The Department of Physics celebrated National Science Day with remarkable enthusiasm at the end of the students and faculty members. The theme of the event was “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat”. The event featured various competitions including Model Making, Poster Presentation, and Speech Competition. This event was supported by the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), and the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India.

International Webinar on Women in Science and Teaching in Higher Education

An International Webinar on the theme of “Women in Science and Teaching in Higher Education” was hosted by the Department of Education. It was chaired by Professor Daria Shcheglova, an eminent academic from the Higher School of Economics, National Research University, Moscow, Russia. Professor Daria Shcheglova emphasized the recurrent issue of the gender gap in tertiary institutions. This webinar served as a great platform to foster the gist of women’s empowerment and promote gender equity.

Space Exploration Program

The Department of Physics took the brilliant initiative of organizing the Space Exploration Program as part of the National Science Day Celebrations 2025. The event was supported by the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) , the National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), and the Department of Science & Technology (DST) Government of India. The event was graced by a team from the Kurukshetra Planetarium and Science Centre (KPSC). The program featured an expert talk by Sh. Jatinder Kumar Das, Education Officer, KPSC on fundamental scientific concepts and focused on recent scientific advancements. The major highlights of the event were Virtual Tara Mandal and Night Sky Watching Session.

National Seminar by the Department of Economics

The two-day National Seminar on “Contemporary Issues on Economic Development in India” was organized. It was sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), NW Regional Centre, Chandigarh. The two-day seminar provided a valuable platform for discussing the significant issues pertaining to economic development in India.

Tie and Die Workshop

Our Department of Education organized a workshop on Tie and Die under the guidance of Dr. Jasvir Gill, Assistant Professor. Students discovered ancient dyeing processes using natural colors and natural fabrics, creating marvelous patterns and wearable art. The workshop also taught the cultural importance of tie and dye in Indian heritage, inviting students to adopt local arts while growing their creative flair.

Sixth Athletic Meet at Akal Campus

Akal University takes great care of both the mental and physical well-being of the students. At the much anticipated Sixth Annual Athletic Meet, students participated very enthusiastically. There were relays, discus throws, long jumps, sprints, and other competitions. The event demonstrated teamwork, mental resilience, and physical fitness—qualities that are essential in various aspects of life.

International Webinar on Rotating Nuclei and Other Objects

The Department of Physics, Akal University successfully conducted a thought-provoking webinar on Rotating Nuclei and Other Objects. It was chaired by Professor Philip Walker from the University of Surrey, UK. Professor Philip Walker, a renowned expert in nuclear physics, delved into the fascinating world of rotating nuclei, their behavior, and their implications in modern scientific research. This session unraveled complex nuclear phenomena, and offered invaluable insights to students, researchers, and physics enthusiasts.

March was an incredible blend of leadership, adventure, and learning, Stories of empowerment, social responsibility, and celebrations of knowledge filled the campus. We carry the enthusiasm of March into the new month, feeling refreshed, motivated, and looking forward to what is ahead.
