As part of the Clinical Training Module-II, the Department of Physiotherapy at Akal University recently organized an educational visit to Sidhu Hospital, Talwandi Sabo. This insightful hospital tour was aimed at bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world clinical practice for budding physiotherapists.
Purpose of the Visit
The primary objective of this tour was to give students a firsthand experience of a clinical environment, where physiotherapy treatments and rehabilitation therapies are administered. While lectures and textbooks lay the foundation, it is real-time exposure that sharpens critical thinking, clinical observation, and patient interaction skills – essential traits of a successful physiotherapy professional.
An Engaging Educational Experience
The tour was interactive and immersive, with students actively participating by asking questions, holding discussions, and documenting their observations. They were also presented with real case studies and patient progress charts, helping them connect theoretical knowledge with actual medical scenarios.
Key Outcomes
The hospital visit significantly enhanced students’:
-
Confidence in handling clinical tools and patients,
-
Understanding of physiotherapy procedures and patient care,
-
Appreciation of their future roles in the healthcare ecosystem.
Many students expressed that the experience reignited their passion for physiotherapy and gave them a clearer vision of their professional path ahead.
