Because Health Awareness Is a Duty, Not an Option
At Akal University, education extends far beyond textbooks. It means preparing students to understand real-world challenges and equipping them to address them with knowledge, empathy, and action. On 4th December, the University hosted an AIDS Awareness & Free Health Checkup Camp, led by the Red Ribbon Club and the Department of Physiotherapy, in collaboration with Max Hospital, Bathinda.
This initiative transformed the campus into a learning hub where awareness was not just taught
it was lived.
A Powerful Beginning: Awareness That Breaks Barriers
The programme opened with a deeply informative and eye-opening session by Dr. Pooja Gupta, who highlighted:-
• Myths vs. facts about HIV/AIDS
• Importance of early diagnosis
• Preventive practices
• Fighting stigma with knowledge
Students listened with focused minds and open hearts, discovering how awareness can protect individuals and strengthen communities.
Free Health Checkups – Caring Through Action
Following the session, Dr. Hunal Uppal and the expert team from Max Hospital conducted:-
• Medical screenings
• Personal health consultations
• Guidance on healthy habits and lifestyle management
More than 100 participants students, faculty, and staff-benefited from the camp, receiving clarity on health concerns and gaining confidence to take preventive measures.
