January set the tone for a powerful new year at Akal University. From outdoor leadership experiences to global academic conversations and meaningful community outreach, the campus buzzed with opportunities that shaped minds, built character, and strengthened national pride.
Here is a look back at the month that was.
National Adventure Camp – Learning Beyond Classrooms
Three NSS volunteers proudly represented the university at the 10 day National Adventure Camp held at Pirdi in Kullu. The camp was organized in collaboration with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports and supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Guided by Programme Officer Dr Komalpreet Kaur, students experienced activities that nurtured endurance, teamwork, discipline, and confidence. The exposure proved that education becomes powerful when learning meets real life challenges.
Health and Hygiene Awareness Camp – Building Habits for Life
The Department of Education conducted an impactful outreach programme at Akal Academy Damdama Sahib. Through interactive discussions and demonstrations, students learned practical ways to maintain cleanliness, follow healthy routines, and understand sanitation.

The initiative inspired young learners to adopt better lifestyles and reinforced the idea that healthy citizens build a strong nation.
Serving Humanity – Donation Drive
Compassion met action as the Department of Social Science, in association with the Dean of Student Welfare Office, organized a donation drive from January 16 to 20.

Students and staff came together to contribute clothes, footwear, and essentials for the underprivileged. The campaign nurtured empathy and reminded everyone that small acts of kindness create large waves of change.
International Webinar on Quantum Computing – Learning from Global Experts
The university hosted an enlightening international session delivered by Prof Paul Stevenson from University of Surrey.
With nearly 190 participants, the webinar unpacked the foundations of quantum mechanics including superposition, entanglement, and qubits. The discussion helped students imagine how next generation computing can solve problems beyond the limits of classical machines.

National Girl Child Day – Empowering Every Daughter
To mark National Girl Child Day, the Department of Education organized an essay competition on the theme Empowering Every Daughter Strengthening New India.
Students reflected on education, digital literacy, leadership, and the collective responsibility of society in breaking barriers. The event celebrated the voice, vision, and limitless potential of young women.
National Voters Day – Understanding the Power of a Vote
An engaging awareness session encouraged students to value democratic participation on National Voters Day.
Dr Waseem Ahmad Bhat explained how voting is both a right and a responsibility. His message motivated first time voters to contribute actively to nation building.
Celebrating the 77th Republic Day – Pride in Our Constitution
The campus came alive with patriotic fervor while celebrating Republic Day. Poetry recitations and creative art competitions gave students a platform to express thoughts on unity, freedom, and cultural harmony.
More than fifty participants showcased talent, emotion, and deep respect for constitutional values.
Social and Emotional Learning Workshop – Growing Together
A special workshop for academy principals and teachers was conducted under the guidance of Dr Juss Kaur Magon. Through collaborative activities and open dialogue, educators explored practical approaches to emotional intelligence, empathy, and positive school culture.
The programme marked another milestone in the university’s ongoing Faculty Development initiatives.
