November at Akal University witnessed a vibrant blend of spiritual enrichment, research-driven events, hands-on workshops, and social responsibility initiatives. From celebrating the sacred birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to hosting a major international conference, the month reflected the institution’s commitment to holistic education and societal welfare.
Spiritual Roots – Celebrating the 556th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

To mark the divine occasion of the 556th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Akal University, Talwandi Sabo has begun its week-long celebrations with deep devotion and enthusiasm. The series of Prabhat Pheris organized spread the message of peace, humility, and universal brotherhood the essence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings. The celebration featured the revered Akhand Path Sahib. Speech competitions, Gurbani Shabad recitation, and gatka performances were organized.
Serving Vision, Serving Humanity – Free Eye Awareness and Check-up Camp

The Red Ribbon Club of Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, in collaboration with Chitkara Perfect Eye & Retina Centre, organized a Free Eye Awareness and Check-Up Camp on November 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The camp was led by Dr. Taranpreet K. Chitkara (M.S. Eye, FVRS), a renowned Consultant Vitreo-Retina Surgeon and ROP Specialist from Amritsar. This health initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of regular eye examinations and the early detection and prevention of vision issues. Students, faculty, and community members were encouraged to participate and benefit from this free eye screening and consultation.
Reaching for the Stars – Indian Space Program Past, Present, and Future
The Department of Chemistry hosted a seminar chaired by Er. Harjit Singh, Scientist at Semiconductor Laboratory, Mohali, and former Senior Scientist at ISRO with 17 years of exemplary service. Er. Singh contributed remarkably to India’s space program, including the Design of Liquid Oxygen tanks for the Gaganyaan Mission, C25 and C32 stages of LVM3, and the Thermal Shroud for ISRO’s first semi-cryogenic stage, along with active participation in Chandrayaan 1, 2, and 3.
Global Dialogues for Innovation – CISTM-2025 International Conference

The International Conference on Information Science, Technology, and Management (CISTM-2025) concluded successfully. The event was hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with Eternal University, Baru Sahib. The event featured expert talks, 12 technical sessions, and 120 peer-reviewed paper presentations. Awards were presented to outstanding contributors, and dignitaries praised the university’s commitment to research, innovation, and ethical technological advancement.
Learning That Grows – Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation

The Department of Life Sciences, in collaboration with Akal Incubation Centre, completed the Three-Day Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation held from 21 to 23 November 2025. The event is sponsored by The State Bank of India. Participants benefited from expert-led sessions delivered by Dr. Rakesh Sehrawat, Associate Scientist at CCS HAU Hisar, Dr. Sunil Beniwal, District Extension Specialist (Agronomy), and Dr. Vinita Rajput, District Extension Specialist (Horticulture) of CCS HAU Hisar. Practical insights into commercial mushroom farming were further enriched by Mr. Jashanpreet Singh Chahal, owner of Chahal Mushroom Farm.
Mind Matters – Inauguration of ‘AUKHAD’ Mental Health Initiative

‘Aukhad’ is a mental health and drug-free awareness initiative by the Department of Psychology, Akal University, aimed at strengthening emotional well-being among students and communities. The program includes interactive workshops, screenings, and guidance sessions that build resilience, stress-management skills, and healthy coping habits. It empowers teachers, parents, and youth with practical tools to understand mental health and prevent substance use. Through its focused outreach, Aukhad works to create supportive environments and promote a drug-free, psychologically healthy society.
Protecting Ideas – Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

A two-day workshop titled “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness – Creation to Protection” was organized by the Intellectual Property Management & Commercialization Cell (IPMCC) in collaboration with The Research and Development Cell, Akal University, and The Patent Information Centre (PSCST), supported by The Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The workshop featured lectures by eminent experts including Dr. Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Ms. Divya Kaushik, and Dr. Vimal Kumar Varun.
Skills for Sustainability – LED Bulbs & Tubelight Repairing Workshop
Empowering young minds for a sustainable future, a hands-on training workshop on “LED Bulbs & Tubelight Repairing for Energy Conservation” was organized from 17th to 19th November 2025 by the Eco Club in association with the Department of Physics. Sponsored under the Environment Education Programme by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, the workshop included expert guidance and an industrial visit to ZORO Star LED Lights factory, Ambala.
Celebrating Roots – Pendu Khed and Lok Kalavan Mela
To foster a deep connection between students and their rich heritage of sports and folk arts, Akal University hosted a Pendu Khed Mela and Lok Kalavan Mela. These two-day events featured great enthusiasm in folk art competitions, including crocheting, weaving, clay modeling, and gudiya patole etc. On day two, students participated in village games such as a sack race, a spot race, geete, rope jumping, lame, lion, and tug of war.
Understanding the Heart – Special Talk on Emotions
The Gender Sensitisation Committee organized a special session on “Understanding Emotions – Guidance for Boys and Girls”. Ms. Navist, a student counselor, headed the session. She discussed details of the origin, expression, and control of human emotions. She talked about social and cultural assumptions that often affect the expression of emotions according to gender. This empathetic session proved to be a crucial step towards creating a sensitive and healthy environment on campus.
Seva in Action – Blood Donation Camp in Memory of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

The NSS Cell of Akal University celebrated the 350th Martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur with a vibrant Blood Donation Camp. A specialized medical team from the Blood Bank, Bathinda, joined Akal Campus under the leadership of Dr. Ritika Garg, Blood Transfusion Officer, to facilitate the donation process. The university community participated enthusiastically in the camp. Their collective effort resulted in the voluntary donation of 57 units of blood, reflecting the strong spirit of social responsibility.
Science Meets the Sky – Inauguration of Atmospheric Research Laboratory

Akal University’s Department of Physics inaugurated The Atmospheric Research Laboratory, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, researchers, and students. The event was graced by the honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Gurmail Singh, who served as The Chief Guest. Dr. Parminder Kaur, the Laboratory Coordinator, presented an insightful overview of the major instruments installed in the Atmospheric Research Laboratory. The laboratory aims to become a vibrant hub for academic research, data generation, and collaborative projects in the upcoming years.
November proved to be a dynamic and enriching month at Akal University, offering students a wide range of spiritual, academic, and skill-based experiences.
