The Department of Physiotherapy, Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, in collaboration with Cipla Pharmaceuticals, organized an insightful Workshop on “Respiratory Diseases, Assessment, and Training” on 31st October 2025. The session aimed to provide budding physiotherapists with practical exposure to respiratory evaluation techniques, therapeutic interventions, and patient education strategies crucial for clinical excellence.
Exploring Respiratory Evaluation Techniques
The workshop began with live demonstrations of advanced respiratory assessment devices such as spirometers and breathometers, which are essential tools in evaluating lung function. Students learned about the importance of parameters like peak expiratory flow rate and vital capacity, gaining a deeper understanding of their clinical significance.

Participants actively engaged in hands-on practice, performing assessments and interpreting results under expert supervision, which significantly enhanced their practical understanding and diagnostic confidence.
Mastering Inhalation Techniques with Cipla Experts
Team Cipla further conducted an interactive demonstration of various inhalation devices including Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs), Dry Powder Inhalers (DPIs), and Nebulizers. Students were trained in identifying the right inhaler for different respiratory conditions, learning about correct inhalation techniques, dosage management, and device maintenance to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
This interactive session bridged the gap between classroom theory and real-world application, providing a comprehensive learning experience for future healthcare professionals.
Hands-On Training in Respiratory Rehabilitation
The final segment of the workshop focused on respiratory training devices such as incentive spirometers and Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) devices. These tools play a vital role in patient recovery and pulmonary rehabilitation. Students practiced their use and learned how to incorporate them effectively into physiotherapy treatment plans.

A Step Toward Clinical Excellence
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Navjot Kaur (PT), who expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Cipla team for their contribution to enhancing students’ clinical learning.
The event proved to be a transformative experience, especially for final-year students, helping them build competence and confidence in managing respiratory physiotherapy cases.
Bridging Knowledge and Practice
By organizing such industry-collaborative workshops, Akal University continues to empower students with the skills, confidence, and clinical acumen needed to excel in modern healthcare. The partnership with Cipla Pharmaceuticals exemplifies the university’s commitment to promoting experiential learning and evidence-based physiotherapy education.
