Akal University’s September 2025 Highlights – A Month of Innovation, Service, and Learning Excellence

September 2025 unfolded as a month of vibrant activities, impactful learning, and heartfelt service at Akal University, Talwandi Sabo.  The campus buzzed with academic excellence, social responsibility, and spiritual enrichment — showcasing how the University continues to blend education with ethics and innovation with inspiration.

Here’s a glimpse into the remarkable happenings that made this month truly special.

Global Knowledge Exchange – ICGTEDD-2025

The month began on a high note with the International Conference on Green Technologies, Environment, and Drug Discovery (ICGTEDD-2025), held from 3rd to 5th September. Organized by the Green Chemistry Network Centre (GCNC) at Akal University in collaboration with the University of Delhi and the Indian Chemical Society, Kolkata, the conference united 317 participants worldwide.
It served as a global hub for exchanging ideas on green chemistry, eco-friendly innovations, and sustainable drug discovery, reflecting the University’s dedication to advancing environmental and scientific research.

Fostering Responsible Citizenship – Community Living Program

The Department of Education led an inspiring Community Living Program, encouraging students to live mindfully and contribute meaningfully to society.
Through engaging activities like Poster Presentations, Anti-Drug Pledge, and an Awareness Session on Building a Drug-Free India, students were motivated to support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.


Workshops on Yoga, Meditation, and Stress Management promoted inner peace, while a Digital Skills Enhancement Workshop equipped participants with essential tools for the modern world.

Serving Humanity – Akal Flood Relief Campaign

Demonstrating compassion and community spirit, the NSS Unit of Akal University organized the Akal Flood Relief Campaign in Fazilka district, reaching out to flood-affected families with essential supplies. The initiative was a heartfelt expression of the University’s mission to combine education with selfless service.

Rooted in Green Values – Plantation Drive at Takht Shri Damdama Sahib

The Eco Club, in collaboration with The Kalgidhar Trust, organized a Plantation Drive at the sacred Takht Shri Damdama Sahib, where 100 saplings were planted. The drive symbolized not just environmental conservation, but also the revival of Sikh heritage and collective responsibility toward nature.

Expanding Horizons – International Webinar by Department of Physics

The Department of Physics continued its global engagement through an International Webinar, chaired by Dr. Robin Smith from Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
With participation from over 300 scholars across five countries, the session explored the mysteries of nucleosynthesis and cosmic evolution, inspiring budding physicists to look beyond the classroom.

Empowering Educators – Expert Session by Prof. Shalabh

To strengthen the research culture, an expert session was hosted by Prof. Shalabh from IIT Kanpur. His talk encouraged faculty members to view research as a driving force that enhances teaching quality and academic impact.

Spiritual Harmony – Gurmat Samagam

A serene Gurmat Samagam brought the University community together in devotion and reflection. The Path of Shri Akhand Sahib followed by soulful kirtan and discourses inspired everyone to walk the path of faith, humility, and seva (service).

Promoting Wellness – World Physiotherapy Day

The Department of Physiotherapy celebrated World Physiotherapy Day with enthusiasm and creativity. The event featured poster presentations, skits, quizzes, and fun games, highlighting the importance of physiotherapy in enhancing well-being and mobility.

Innovation at its Best – Tech Lumina 2025

On Engineer’s Day, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted Tech Lumina 2025 under the theme “AI and Sustainability.”
The two-day event encouraged students to explore the intersection of technology and environmental responsibility, showcasing innovative projects and creative solutions.

Shaping Innovators – Smart India Hackathon

The Internal Smart India Hackathon, organized by the same department, engaged 54 students in nine teams, who collaboratively tackled eight real-world problem statements. The event nurtured a problem-solving mindset and prepared participants for the national-level Hackathon, embodying the spirit of innovation and teamwork.

Empowering Farmers – Syngenta Awareness Session

To promote sustainable agriculture, a Syngenta Awareness Session was held for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs. Experts Dr. Bhanu Manjunath Narayan and Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh shared valuable insights on responsible pesticide use and plant protection, helping strengthen eco-conscious farming practices.

Celebrating Languages – Translation Day Fest

Closing the month on a colorful note, the Department of English hosted a Translation Day Fest on 30th September 2025, celebrating the art of linguistic diversity.
Students enjoyed poetry recitations, poster exhibitions, and fun language games, promoting creativity, cultural understanding, and the beauty of multilingualism.
