Empowering Educators with Social Emotional Learning – A Transformative SEL Refresher Workshop at Akal University

Akal University Talwandi Sabo reaffirmed its commitment to holistic education by organizing a three day Educators Refresher Social Emotional Learning Workshop from 27 to 29 January 2026 at its Multipurpose Hall
The workshop was conducted under the Faculty Development Program and brought together 56 Principals and 48 Teachers from different institutions

Organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell IQAC, the programme focused on strengthening emotional intelligence empathy and resilience in modern classrooms

Purpose of the SEL Refresher Workshop

The workshop was designed with clear and impactful objectives

  • To deepen educators’ understanding of Social Emotional Learning frameworks
  • To equip principals and teachers with practical SEL strategies for classrooms
  • To create inclusive resilient and emotionally safe learning environments

These objectives aligned strongly with Akal University’s vision of value based education

Expert Guidance by an International Education Consultant

The sessions were led by Ms Juss Kaur Magon, a renowned International Education Consultant with academic credentials from McGill University and the University of Oxford


Her experience and global perspective added immense value to the workshop

Participants were introduced to SEL tools that were practical adaptable and relevant to Indian school settings

Inspiring Opening and Thoughtful Engagement

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address by Major General Dr G S Lamba, Dean of Academic Affairs
Ms Magon then shared the vision behind the workshop emphasizing the role of educators in shaping emotionally aware students

Through mindfulness practices reflective journaling and self assessment activities teachers explored how to model emotional growth authentically

Interactive Sessions and Hands On Learning

The workshop featured engaging and activity based learning experiences
