At Akal University, education is not confined to books and lectures it is a journey of self-discovery, courage, and service. The Adventure came alive when three dedicated NSS volunteers stepped into the rugged landscapes of Himachal Pradesh to test their limits, strengthen their spirit, and emerge as stronger individuals and responsible citizens.
From December 21 to 31, 2025, Sukmandeep Kaur, Gungun, and Jagjot Singh represented Akal University at the 10-Day National Adventure Camp held at the River Rafting Centre, Pirdi (Kullu) a transformative experience that shaped minds and forged leadership.
Intensive Training Beyond Comfort Zones – Adventure with a Purpose
Organized under the NSS State Unit, Punjab, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, and the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, the camp was designed to nurture resilience, courage, and teamwork.
Guided by Dr. Komalpreet Kaur, Programme Officer and Assistant Professor at Akal University, the students embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and determination.
Tested by Nature, Strengthened by Experience
The camp offered intensive hands-on training, including:-
• River Rafting & Water Rescue Techniques.
• Camping and Survival Skills.
• Navigation Through Tough Terrains.
• Team-Building & Leadership Exercises.
• Crisis Response & Decision-Making Drills.
Each activity demanded courage, adaptability, and discipline qualities essential for real-world leadership.
Building Confidence, Unity & Service
Beyond physical endurance, the camp instilled:-
• Self-confidence and mental strength.
• Leadership through teamwork.
• Respect for diversity and national unity.
• A spirit of selfless service.
Interacting with participants from across India, students experienced the beauty of unity in diversity, reinforcing the values of cooperation, empathy, and shared responsibility.
