Building Awareness, Inspiring Action
Akal University’s Multipurpose Hall came alive as 130 enthusiastic students participated in a powerful session on sustainability. Organized by the EcoClub in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the event highlighted how small lifestyle changes can make a big difference in combating climate change.
Expert Insights on Renewable Energy
The session was led by Mr. Jatinder Pal Singh, a Solar Energy Consultant and Social Cause Volunteer at The Kalgidhar Trust (Baru Sahib). His thought-provoking talk “Save Energy, Build a Sustainable Future” encouraged students to take responsibility as eco-warriors, linking simple habits—such as turning off unused devices or switching to LED bulbs—to India’s sustainability goals under the Paris Agreement and the Ministry of Environment’s initiatives.
Hands-On Solar Experience
The most exciting part of the session was the live demonstration of solar photovoltaic systems, giving students practical exposure to clean energy solutions. This hands-on learning allowed them to see how solar energy can drive a sustainable future, turning awareness into real possibilities.
From Awareness to Action
Mr. Singh urged students to “be the hero of your own sustainability story,” reminding them that even small actions—like unplugging chargers or adopting energy-efficient practices—can contribute to community-wide impact. The event wasn’t just about learning; it sparked a movement for sustainability at Akal University.
A Call to Collective Change
The session closed with an invitation for everyone to reflect – What’s your sustainability story?
By sharing simple steps—whether it’s reducing energy consumption, using public transport, or adopting solar power, we can collectively create a ripple effect of change.
