Planting Seeds of Sustainability – Akal University Collaborates with EcoSikh to Initiate Guru Nanak Sacred Forest

The EcoSikh Organization, in collaboration with Akal University, has finalized the site for the upcoming Guru Nanak Sacred Forest, an initiative dedicated to restoring indigenous biodiversity using environmentally sustainable methods, marking a step towards ecological resurgence and divine equilibrium.

To assess and choose the plantation site, the EcoSikh team, which included Mr. Satnaam Singh (Operational Manager), Mr. Taranbir Singh (Purchase Head), Mr. Akashdeep Singh (Forest Maker), and Mr. Buta Singh (Assistant Forest Maker), visited the university campus.
In order to get the blessings of the Almighty, an Ardaas ceremony was held. The visit was directed by Ms. Supreet Kaur, President of the EcoSikh Charitable Society.

Reviving Nature with the Miyawaki Forest Method

The Miyawaki method, a Japanese afforestation technique that entails cultivating dense forests from native tree species, would be used to build the Guru Nanak Sacred Forest. This method produces a rapidly developing, self-balancing environment in two to three years and enables three to five saplings to be cultivated in one square meter. Notably, this method is entirely organic and sustainable because it doesn’t utilize chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

Akal University’s Commitment Towards Sustainability

Akal University is actively involved in sustainable practices as part of its Akal Green Earth Initiative. From cleanliness drives to environment conservation programs including expert sessions, hands-on training events, and workshops, the university demonstrated how environment conservation is important in this rapidly evolving world.

Our honorable Vice Chancellor discussed the university’s programs that foster sustainable environmental practices. He also noted that this project will not only assist in land revival but also become a platform for students to perform research and gain experiential learning.

Bringing Hope – Nurturing Greener Tomorrow

The EcoSikh team’s presence and the completion of the plantation site mark the beginning of a very important journey that combines ecological stewardship. This collaborative initiative will open various avenues for research and ecological learning. And it will become the hub for sustainability and hope for upcoming generations also.
