Over a period of five years, Every year Akal University hosts a Blood Donation Camp on auspicious occasions. These camps are tribute to the teachings and principles of the first Sikh Master. Guru Nanak Dev Ji advocates that serving humanity means serving the Almighty selflessly. The university community withholds strong commitment and indestructible spirit toward the welfare of humanity.
Following the Altruistic Approach of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji
Bhai Kanhaiya, a disciple of Guru Gobind Singh Ji often considered as founder of the early Red Cross. During the war of Anandpur Sahib, Mughals and Sikhs were fighting fiercely. Bhai Kanhaiya was assigned the task of serving water to the wounded Sikh soldiers. Even though the Mughals had blocked food supplies to the Fort where Sikhs were residing, Bhai Kanhaiya ji was offering water to Mughal soldiers also. This made the Sikhs angry and they approached Guru Gobind Singh Ji. When Guru Ji inquired into the matter Bhai answered him by saying that he found the essence of Guru Ji among all the sufferers. His words touched Guru Gobind Singh and he gave him medical balm also and asked to serve without considering one’s identity.
Saving Humanity by Donating Blood
Every year Blood Donation camp is organized in association with Akal University’s National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell and Red Ribbon Club (RCC).Donating blood carries the huge potential of saving the lives of people. Every year India faces a shortage of approximately 1 million units of blood. It is highly important to make the donors aware of how a single unit of blood can save the lives of people.
Our university organizes a series of events and awareness campaigns to raise the consciousness of people.
Inherent Values of Sikhism is Boon for Sufferers
Sikh History carries a great legacy of selfless service, affection, and connectivity among people that is without any discrimination of caste, class, or nationality. The world of post-humanism is witnessing a humanitarian crisis. We feel so disheartened when we hear about the ongoing cries of people, victims of Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine. However, the Sikh community does not miss any opportunity to serve humanity.
The university environment promotes diverse cultures, distinctive value systems, and foremost accepting all differences empathetically. All stakeholders of our university stay ready to help the sufferers through various modes of donating blood, reaching as a helping hand in flooded areas, and various other camps. Akal University makes a sincere contribution to the required situation and the recent arrangement of a blood donation camp is a demonstration of the spirit and sense of responsibility that we possess.
